On Friday, Gearbox Records will release Butcher Brown’s new album ‘Camden Session,’ which was recorded direct-to-disc at Mark Ronson’s Zelig Studio in London. Billboard has the full album premiere.

Already this year, Butcher Brown opened a tour for Galactic and played Lock’n Festival. Apropos of its genre-splitting sound, members of Butcher Brown have played with the likes of Natalie Prass, Jack White, Foxygen, Black Thought, Rapsody, Christian Scott, 9th Wonder, and Matthew E. White. Here’s what we’re reading about ‘Camden Session’ as the band prepares to launch tours with Kamasi Washington and Turkuaz, respectively:

“Recording its latest album, Camden Session, premiering exclusively below, at Mark Ronson’s Zelig studio in England let Butcher Brown do what it does best.”
– Gary Graff, Billboard, October 10, 2018

“If you’re a fan of Kamasi, there’s a good chance you’ll dig these guys too… these guys groove together.”
– Andrew Sacher, Brooklyn Vegan, September 26, 2018

“A stunning live act… one of the most compelling releases they’ve ever released… Part of Camden Session’s appeal is the band’s willingness to stretch genres past their usual endpoints, creating a kind of undiscovered musical landscape.”
– Will Schube, Bandcamp, October 9, 2018

“4 stars… Equally well versed in bebop and funk, Virginia’s Butcher Brown possess a musical ESP second to none…. funky raw jazz.”
-Andy Cowan, MOJO, November, 2018

“Effortless-yet-virtuosic, jazz-infused funk.”
– Matt Inman, Relix, August 24, 2018

“Great… amazing.”
– Matt Oshinsky, Paste Magazine, January 11, 2018
