Music by Nora Brown & Stephanie Coleman To Be Featured on Ken Burns’ The American Revolution (PBS) & Soundtrack Album, Out Nov. 7

Jalopy Records artists and their music are appearing in films and on TV. Nora Brown and Stephanie Coleman contributed music to Ken Burns’ upcoming documentary series The American Revolution (PBS), which launches November 16. Their songs “Hell and Scissors” and “Winter Smoke” appear in the film and on the accompanying soundtrack album, which will be released November 7. Others on the soundtrack include Rhiannon Giddens and Jake Blount.

The duo has performed an NPR Tiny Desk Concerts. Nora has appeared on PBS / CNN show Amanpour & Company, Live Magic (Tokyo, Japan), Roskilde Festival (Denmark), AMERICANAFEST, Lincoln Center, globalFEST, and Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, most recently performing and protesting on-stage at the Kennedy Center.

Meanwhile, Eli Smith and Jackson Lynch of the Down Hill Strugglers appear in the film The History of Sound (Mubi / Focus / Universal), starring Paul Mescal and Josh O’Connor and directed by Oliver Hermanus. The duo plays a fiddle tune called “Forkey Deer.” Jalopy Records artist an decoated fiddle player Stephanie Coleman also served as traditional music consultant on the film, which opened September 12 and is set in the 1910s. Down Hill Strugglers’ album Old Juniper came out last year, debuting at #8 on the Billboard Bluegrass chart and appeared on two official Apple Music playlists.

Jalopy Records hit a landmark this year with its fiftieth release.
