Today, London-based producer and singer-songwriter Liza Lo has shared a new single titled “Birdsong.” The single follows her critically acclaimed debut album Familiar, which was released via London/Tokyo label Gearbox Records (home to Abdullah Ibrahim, Cahill//Costello, Knats, Elliot Galvin, Robin Katz and more) in early 2025.
Recorded with three microphones directly to tape, and featuring fiddle and double bass work, the track’s warm and intimate sound perfectly reflects the emotion and nature of Liza’s songwriting. Speaking on the single, she says, Birdsong is “a gentle early morning reminder for the lightness and ease in life. A song about friendship and romance. Life can get overwhelming and the simple things are easily forgotten and overlooked. First morning coffees, meeting someone new, real connection, holding hands, song of birds in the garden, sunlight on your face after a long period of rain and grey. Birdsong is written to remember the beauty in the smallest of things life gives us.”
The single also comes ahead of Liza’s first-ever US tour dates where she will perform at NPR Mountain Stage as well as further shows including Rough Trade NYC, WMOT in Nashville and a support show for Anna Tivel in Louisville. The dates follow her packed out UK/EU tour in late 2025 and are as follows:
Liza Lo Tour Dates
March 19 – WDVX Blue Plate Special – Knoxville, TN
March 20 – WMOT NPR – Nashville, TN
March 22 – Mountain Stage NPR – Charleston, WV
March 23 – Woodsongs – Lexington, KY

Liza’s debut album Familiar touches on everything from the loss of a friend, to moving away from her home in Europe, to the many subtle intricacies that come with modern day relationships. Recorded at Damon Albarn’s Studio 13, with her band and Jon Kelly (Kate Bush, Paul McCartney), it’s full of uncanny and intimate guitars, retro pop-inflected synth and bass, and crystalline piano that intensify and build into widescreen, driving poignant songs about vulnerability and emotional fulfillment. It’s a real exercise in both fragility and self-found strength. The album has seen Liza earn praise from the likes of DIY, Notion, and BBC Introducing, and earlier releases such as “Empty Room” have racked up over 1M streams.
