Multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter and three-time Grammy-winning producer Larry Campbell and singer-guitarist Teresa Williams were named “The First Couple of Americana” by Mojo Magazine. Associated Press said, of the duo’s new album All This Time, “Stately arrangements frame songs about flirting, fidelity and the fragile nature of it all.” Campbell is a brilliant multi-instrumentalist/vocalist/producer who played in Bob Dylan’s band for eight years and then led Levon Helm’s band, producing or co-producing both of Helm’s late career GRAMMY-winning albums Dirt Farmer and Electric Dirt.

Jeffrey Lewis and his various bandmates have perfected a scuzzy, urban style of indie-folk, developing from late-90s New York City bedroom tapes into a mighty 21st Century mash-up of folksy spiel and artsy garage, like Pete Seeger meeting Sonic Youth. UNCUT Magazine said, “Sublime… Lewis [moves] between melodic garage-punk and raw acoustic grooves to great effect. But it’s his terrific wordplay—sharp, funny, poignant and much more—that really dazzles.”

A born and raised denizen of the Lower East Side, Lewis’s home recordings were discovered by Rough Trade Records in 2001 (famed label of The Smiths, The Strokes, Belle & Sebastian and more) while Lewis was briefly living in Austin, Texas. Since the 2001 release of his first official album “The Last Time I Did Acid I Went Insane and Other Favorites” on Rough Trade Records, Lewis has toured the world and released numerous acclaimed albums on Rough Trade and other labels. He’s built a worldwide fanbase while regularly changing band names, most recently recording as Jeffrey Lewis & The Voltage for Don Giovanni Records and Moshi Moshi Records. Of Lewis, David Berman (of Silver Jews) said, “Jeffrey is the best pure songwriter I know of.”

Nicolette is romantic about retro Western music; she speaks with a soft grit, a warm and distinguished rattle that lends her observations weight. Performing, she loosens into an unabashed howl, a fluid force turning upward at the edges with unmistakable twang. She keeps her lyrics no-nonsense—earthy comments on the human condition, floridity be damned. She reserves her flamboyance and flair for onstage attire—cowboy hats, fringed vests with matching hot pants, boots by all accounts made for walking. Writing “The Long Way,” Nicolette took a period to thoughtfully relish the opportunities before her and to reckon with her role as a woman of color in a predominately white, male genre. The result is a collection of personal and adventurous songs.
