Jad Tariq, a Memphis-based Rhythm & Blues guitarist/vocalist, is making waves on the national music scene.
Tariq’s take on the traditional soundscapes of American roots music is a breath of fresh air, as he pays homage to the classics of yesteryear, while also incorporating a modern sensibility.
Jad’s guitar style seamlessly blends feel-good swing with the raw emotional intensity of the blues. His vocal style is in the tradition of the blues shouters and big-band crooners of the ‘40s and ‘50s.
Originally hailing from Trumbull, Connecticut, Jad began his music career at just 12 years old, cutting his teeth in local bars across the tri-state area.
At age 18, he moved to Memphis to immerse himself in the rich musical heritage of the blues, and has since become a mainstay on the scene.
Jad has garnered national attention through collaborations with multiple Blues Music Award-winner John Nemeth, renowned musician Tony Holiday, and legendary harmonica master Charlie Musselwhite. Most recently, he earned the prestigious honor of being invited to join Bob Dylan’s touring band for a series of dates.
An accomplished songwriter, Jad’s craft shines on his debut album, Jad Tariq Sings. The album features a blend of rhythm & blues that is both clever and classic, showcasing his versatility in handling different grooves and tempos with poise.
Tariq’s debut album earned him two nominations in the 2025 Blues Blast Magazine Awards, one nomination in the Sean Costello Rising Star category, and another in the New Artist Debut Recording category.
Tariq’s sophomore release, Precious Company, is slated for release on September 18th, 2026.
With his commanding performances and earnest songwriting, Jad Tariq is a significant force in the contemporary blues scene.
