The Jalopy Theatre & School of Music, presenter of the Brooklyn Folk Festival, has announced the full lineup for this year’s festival. Taking place November 6–8 at St. Ann’s Church in Brooklyn Heights, the 17th Annual Brooklyn Folk Festival will feature more than 40 bands, workshops, film screenings, the legendary Gowanus Canal Banjo Toss contest, and more.
This year’s festival will be headlined by the iconic freak folk artist Bonnie “Prince” Billy, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert bandleader and Louis Cato, and longtime Brooklyn Folk Festival favorites The Deslondes. The full festival lineup showcases artists and folk traditions from around the world, including Gamelan, Son Jarocho, Rumeli, and Cumbia music, alongside workshops where festival attendees can learn about a wide range of topics including African Origins of the Banjo and Songs of the Delmore Brothers.

During the Saturday evening program, there will be a special performance featuring the puppet company Boxcutter Collective, followed by the bluegrass trio Michael Daves, Bruce Molsky, and Tony Trischka, in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Jalopy Theatre & School of Music.
“I wanted to present a folk festival that was really counter cultural – folk music being a cornerstone of American counter culture–and a festival that really represented the huge diversity and deep roots inherent in the idea of folk music. We have made that our goal at the Brooklyn Folk Festival,” said Brooklyn Folk Festival Founder and Producer, Eli Smith
