Support Dates with Vraell in November

“A wistful blend of indie-folk and pop that’s reminiscent of the likes of Alice Phoebe Lou and Julia Jacklin.” – DIY Mag

Yesterday, London-based producer and singer-songwriter Liza Lo has shared a new single titled “Morning Call”. The single follows her recent tracks “Gipsy Hill,” “What I Used To Do,” and “Confiarme,” which she recently released a live performance video for, and “A Messenger” — her debut for independent analogue specialist label, Gearbox Records (home to Abdullah Ibrahim, Binker & Moses, Thiago Nassif, Levitation Orchestra, Graham Costello and more).

Having completed a sold-out EU / UK tour with Australian indie-folk songwriter Harrison Storm as well as a more recent run of UK dates both headlining and in support of Steph Strings, Liza has been on a rapid word-of-mouth ascent with shows across both London and her hometown of Amsterdam. The new single follows her self-released Flourish EP, which saw her earn widespread playlist support and early plaudits at both press and radio, for her tender and meditative take on indie-folk.

Recorded during a 4-day residency at Damon Albarn’s Studio 13, with her band and Jon Kelly (Kate Bush, Paul McCartney), “Morning Call” combines uncanny and intimate guitars that intensify and build into a widescreen, driving poignant song about vulnerability and emotional fulfilment. The track reflects the sensory build-up that comes with an inevitable separation that follows being in a one-way relationship.

Speaking on the single, Liza says, ‘Morning Call’ was written about a longing for affection. Unravelling the journey of falling in and out of modern love – where strangers can suddenly become our whole world, only to fade back into strangers again. Debriefing the delicate arc of connection: from the first spark of possibility to the final moments of farewell. A collection of overpromised dreams and unmet expectations, where the key is to remain an open heart.”

Last month, Liza also released a new 7″ vinyl via Gearbox Records featuring “Gipsy Hill” and her previous single “What I Used To Do” – it will be available exclusively as live merch or direct from the label.

Liza will also play three upcoming live dates in the support of “Morning Call,” one in the Netherlands in support of Melle and two in support of Vraell in the UK.
